When You Can’t Quite Cross the Finish Line

Ever gotten so close?

Like, made it through 179 days of school, but can’t quite wrap your brain around day 180?

We know how you feel.

Sometimes the finish line is far away, but you still have some energy, so you’re encouraged to keep going.

Sometimes the finish line is super close, but you’re spent.

I remind myself of two truths during pre-finish line collapses:

  1. It’s just a season.  God is the creator of seasons.  It’s never “always summer,” “always winter,” “always poverty,” “always riches.”  Life ebbs and flows…by design.  Hard places aren’t permanent.
  2. You’re not alone.  Of course, you know that God is with you.  He has experienced plenty, want, euphoria, and exhaustion.  But he has also given you friends.  If not friends, family.  If not family, a church in your neighborhood you can walk into.  If not a church, a 1-800 number you can call.  You are never alone.

Most importantly, God is there:

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Psalm 23

Believe it.  It’s true.
