Redeeming the Time (Ephesians Study, Lesson Seven)

Redeeming the Time (Ephesians Study, Lesson Seven)

Ephesians 5:15-16 is both daunting and exciting: “be careful how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

No pressure, right?

All we need to do is walk wisely AND redeem the time.

But I love the idea of doing this in Spirit-filled community. It is hard to be wise and to use my time redemptively when I’m on my own – or when I FEEL like I’m on my own.

But together….together, through the Spirit, there is a synergy of encouragement.

– I don’t have to make all the wise decisions by myself – I have a community.

– I don’t have to focus on “redeeming the time” as if it’s all up to me – I have a community.

I think part of God’s wisdom… part of “living as wise”… Is to live together.

As Paul writes to the Ephesians, he is molding the early church into a group of believers who live together, work together, sing together, and submit to each other. They are “redeeming the time” during “evil days.”

Thanks for being together and for praying for each other.
