When You Think You’re Right (Ephesians Study, Lesson One)

When You Think You’re Right (Ephesians Study, Lesson One)

Take a moment to think: Have you ever been wrong about anything?

Now think again: Have you ever been right about something?

Now think one more time:  Have you ever been very, very wrong about something, but at the moment, you thought you were really, really right about it?

Maybe you took a huge stand on an issue, but later you realized your facts were incorrect.  Maybe you argued a point with a family member until you were blue and out of breath, only to see later that your point was invalid.

I recently challenged an employee at a store over my purchase of pizzas.  I purchased three pizzas and was SURE they had charged me for five.  Much to the embarrassment of my middle-school-aged daughter, I wasn’t going down without a fight.

Turns out, the store was right, and I walked away with a new understanding of pizzas and how the store receipts are printed.

This week in our first “Ephesians” lesson, we will see the story of a man — Paul — who was so SURE he was right, that ridding the world of the people who didn’t agree with him became his personal mission.  That is, he was convinced his way was right until the Lord grabbed him and changed his life.

Pray today that the Lord will not leave us in our error, but that he will mercifully grab our lives and correct our “right”ness as needed.
